Eco-Gites of Lenault - a Toddler-friendly Gite

It's not that long ago that we used to go on holiday and seemed to take the whole house with us.  Why?  Because we were going on holiday with TODDLERS.  I mean, how can such small people need so much STUFF?!  Then there were the joys of trying to find gites that were suitable for young children.  The one where the kettle had to be boiled ON THE FLOOR because that was on the only socket it could reach was not ideal with a crawling toddler and another was lovely except there were no comfy sofas so at night we couldn't relax properly once the boys were in bed.  Therefore when we moved to France to open a gite we decided pretty early on that we needed to make our gite toddler-friendly.

Our Toddler Friendly Gite

Toddler Stuff Supplied

We provide loads of toddler kit so you don't have to pack everything and you might find you can even get away without the roof rack (which will mean your ferry crossing costs less and you'll use less fuel).  A full list of all the kit is here.  Please do ask if there is anything else you want want and we may be able to help.

Play Time

The mezzanine bedroom also doubles up as a play room and reading corner with plenty of toys, games and books for your toddler to enjoy.

Outside just a few metres from your door is our large toddler-friendly play area with climbing tower, swings, slide, trampoline and a sandpit.  There is also a play barn full of toys should the weather get too hot or a bit wet and a hard-standing area for toddler bikes … which also doubles up as a boules pitch.

Making memories

"We had a fantastic holiday, Rosie and family are so welcoming and the gite was glorious. Perfect. Arthur (4) made memories here I know he will cherish for a lifetime."

I am not sure at what age any toddler makes their first memories.  However, I know from guests who have now stayed with us 5 times now that on coming for their third visit little P knew exactly where she was going, what animals she was going to see and was very excited about collecting eggs again.  Young H came for his first visit when he was two and a year later he remembered the naughty duck who (apparently) I had had to separate for reasons I no longer remember.  Oh and Boris – he remembered our pig was called Boris!

Quiet location

The gite is 300m up a private drive and at the end the road is incredibly quiet.  A few cars and tractors pass daily but not much else … and what toddler doesn't love tractor spotting?!  Traffic noise will not keep your toddler awake.

If you toddler is prone to screaming in the middle of the night fear not – we are your only neighbours and with very thick walls between us we don't hear anything.

Help at hand

We live next door so should you need any help we are there to assist. We are happy to make any telephone reservations for you if your French isn't up to it and can help point you in the direction of toddler friendly restaurants etc.

Location

Where we bought the property that was to become Eco-Gites of Lenault was very important as we needed it to be close to plenty of toddler-friendly attractions.  Turns out that Lenault was a good choice.  For example we are just 20 minutes from the nearest zoo and miniature railway museum, 60 minutes from the brilliant Falaise Castle, 40 minutes from the toddler-friendly Festyland theme park and to discover all the beautiful Normandy countryside there are footpaths that start right by our gate.

From a travel point of view we are only an hour south of Caen ferry port, which should greatly relieve car boredom of younger travellers!

Have you visited Eco-Gites of Lenault with toddlers?  Have you anything to add that I have forgotten?
