We all need to buy a certain amount of stuff but our beautiful earth cannot support our continued and excessive consumption of goods. That is why, today, November 25th 2019 I am supporting #WhiteMonday, an initiative to promote a circular economy and sustainable consumerism.
> Reuse what you have
> Buy only what you need
> Buy upcycled/recycled/re-purposed
> Pass on things you no longer need
> Borrow and share things
> Mend it if it's broken
> Buy/give experiences not things
> Reject buying anything in a Black Friday sale
Are you with me? More details here - https://www.whitemonday.info/about
"A circular economy is based on the principles of designing out waste and pollution, keeping products and materials in use, and regenerating natural systems." Ellen McArthur Foundation
Hello everyone and thanks for joining in with this group aimed to help increase insta engagement. The idea is simple.
1. Follow each of the accounts in the group
2. When you have posted a new picture on insta add a comment in this group saying briefly what the photo is. eg kitchen photo / the seaside today etc
3. Click on the avatar of each person who has added a new photo to take you to their account, then like the photo and add a meaningful comment. Try to avoid generic "Nice photo" type comments and where possible try to get conversation going.
5. Once you have done this like the comment in this group.
4. Only add your own new photo comment when you've done all the ones above you.
I don't think any of us are posting too often so hopefully this will not be an onerous task.
At the moment I'm keeping this group just to this size to see how it goes. If you have any feedback or need help you can message me on Facebook.

We were supposed to have left April showers behind last month but it seems no-one told the Normandy weather Gods this fact ... but the result is the wild flowers are looking the best I have seen them in many years ... and yes, I did get wet before I got home from this walk! The forecast is set to improve from now on and we do have some availability through the rest of May, including half term, if you wish to come and check out the wild flowers.

Vendeuvre is one of our favourite Normandy chateaux. It is under an hour from the gite and has plenty to offer visitors. The ground floor of the chateau is open to the public and absolutely packed full of antique objects. There is also a museum of miniature furniture and a museum of posh dog beds which are all wonderfully over the top! Outside are extensive grounds that include areas of typically formal clipped hedges as well as woodland gardens, a maze, a grotto and a surprise water garden - be prepared to get wet!
You can pay to go into some or all of the house/grounds and tickets are really reasonable - $11.90 for an adult / €9.50 for a child.

You know what really grinds my gears... when someone throws away a plastic item that is still in good nick and has a whole lot of life left in it, to go and buy a "sustainable" alternative. THAT IS NOT SUSTAINABLE! Being sustainable involves using what you have until it 100% cannot be used anymore and then replacing it with a sustainable option.
You know what else really toots my ute, when people get sucked into marketing and socia media to be influenced to buy something they don't need! Unneccesary purchases ultimately contribute to waste, so if you aren't going to use that new blender/lipstick/dress that everyone "has to have", then please dont buy it.
Today we avoided going to town. Instead we did some gardening, played on the trampoline, read some books with the kidlets and ticked off lots of odd jobs around the house... all without spending a cent. Because #PlasticFreeJuly Tip #6 - when you arent spending money, you aren't buying plastic!! Unsubscribe from the emails that tempt you to buy things you dont need. Refuse to be influenced and make an effort to buy less. If you have to purchase something new, choose functionality and longevity over how something looks and remember that there are plenty of alternatives to buying brand new. We traded an un-needed toddler table and chairs for some crayfish ☝️ as you can tell hubby was very happy indeed!
